Job Summary


One Supervisory Police Officer position is open to Current VANIHCS Police Officers Only.

This Supervisory Police Officer position is located with the Police Service at the new Mishawaka, Indiana clinic.

This 90,000square footHealth Care Center has both Patient Aligned Care Teams (PACT) and Specialty Clinics (Cardiology, GI, Audiology, Vision, Urology, and Podiatry).

VANIHCS is larger than just a single facility.

It is a fully-integrated medical care facility with dual campuses in Fort Wayne and Marion, with Community Based Outpatient Clinics, (CBOCs), in Goshen, South Bend, Peru, Muncie, and Mishawaka, Indiana serving a combined VA mission where military retirees, and eligible Veterans receive health care.

Qualifications


To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

Time-in-Grade: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06 level.

For a GS-08 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-07 level.

For a GS-09 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-08 level.

Specialized Experience: GS-07: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-06 grade level performing duties that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; serving as a Police Officer or equivalent law enforcement position.

GS-08: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level performing duties that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; serving as a Police Sergeant or equivalent law enforcement lead position.

GS-09: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level performing duties that provided knowledge of a body of basic laws and regulations, law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques and involved responsibility for maintaining order and protecting life and property; serving as a Police Lieutenant or equivalent law enforcement supervisory position.

Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing visitor protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other natural resource or recreational environments; in performing criminal investigative duties; or in other work that provided the required knowledge and skills.

VA Police Officers must be able to achieve and maintain mandatory firearm qualification/certification.

Current Certified VA Police.

Must have completed VA Basic Law Enforcement Academy Training, without a separation period greater than 3 years at the time of position appointment.

This is an experiencedSupervisory Police Officer Position.

Only Police Officers that possess the required supervisorylaw enforcement specialized experience need apply.

Highly qualified candidates will be current VA LETC Police Officers.

Candidates that do not possess the required specialized experience will not be qualified for the position.
