Job Summary


The selectee for this position will serve as a Senior Instructor in the Radiological Worker Training Branch of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD.

Minimum Qualifications for GS-12: In order to qualify for this position, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.

Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform successfully the duties of the position such as: Performing job coverage and oversight of work as a qualified radiological controls technician.

Researches and reviews all courses involving radiological controls including reviews of tests, practical, mockup training, lesson plans and visual aids.

Conducts surveillance to monitor effectiveness of training and adherence to standards based on observations and recommends and institutes changes to procedures used to improve the effectiveness of training.

Investigates, analyzes and initiates new training courses and techniques and evaluates the technical work of others, train and guides junior level personnel and new work methods or techniques.

Prepares, conducts and reviews the required training and identify non-compliance with established guidelines and to develop new and improved methods.

Evaluates exposure data, surveys, work practices and procedures and uses guidelines and experience of radiation protection standards practices to assess the radiological impact on personnel during a work operation.

Evaluates classroom and practical ability training to review adequacy, accuracy, effectiveness and adherence to standards.
