The selectee for this position will serve as a Computer Scientist in the Ocean Products Branch, Synoptic Applications Division, Oceanographic Department, Naval Oceanographic Office, Stennis Space Center, Mississippi of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS.

Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science.
At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus.
All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
GS-07: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Utilizing therories, principles, and techniques of computer science, and operational real-time processing application functions.
Assisting with installing software and software upgrades.
Preparing documents and administrative studies in support of the transition of insitu-data processing software.
GS-09: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Maintains consistent data quality used to produce forecasts, models, graphics, and data bases in support of global products and subsequent distribution.
Designs, enhances, installs, and configures software utilized in automated real-time insitu-data processing schemes.
Performs hardware and software maintenance on application processing.
Conducts tests of new hardware/software.
